UFC Fight Night: Buckley vs. Malott
UFC Fight Night: Buckley vs. Malott is an upcoming UFC event on October 17, 2026 in Edmonton, Canada, headlined by Joaquin Buckley vs Mike Malott. Check the 13-fight card broadcast options, and venue details below.
Why Buckley vs Malott matters at welterweight
Joaquin Buckley against Mike Malott is a five-round crossroads fight at welterweight, headlining UFC Fight Night at Rogers Place, Edmonton, on Saturday 17 October 2026. Buckley comes in ranked No. 10 and Malott No. 13, so the winner climbs firmly into the top ten and the loser drifts back towards the pack.
The two men arrive heading in opposite directions. Buckley (21-8) has lost two in a row, both on the scorecards, after a six-fight run that briefly made him a contender. Malott (14-2-1) has won four straight and finished Gilbert Burns in the main event in Winnipeg in April.
It is also the UFC's return to Edmonton, and the card leans heavily Canadian. Malott headlines on home soil, Ontario's Jasmine Jasudavicius has the co-main against Erin Blanchfield, and Alberta's own Tanner Boser features on the prelims.
Main event breakdown: Joaquin Buckley vs Mike Malott
Buckley is a power striker who rebuilt his career at welterweight. In 2024 he stopped Vicente Luque in round two, outpointed Nursulton Ruziboev, knocked out Stephen Thompson in round three at UFC 307 and then beat Colby Covington by third-round doctor stoppage in December. That run ended against wrestlers: Kamaru Usman took a unanimous decision over five rounds in June 2025, and Sean Brady did the same over three at UFC 328 in May 2026.
Those two losses tell you where Buckley is vulnerable. He is 32, stands 5ft 8in but carries a 76-inch reach and huge explosive power, and both recent defeats came against elite wrestlers who took his legs away and slowed the pace. When opponents stand in front of him, he has been devastating.
Malott, 34, is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who has become a sharper boxer with every outing. Since a third-round TKO loss to Neil Magny in Toronto in January 2024, he has beaten Trevin Giles and Kevin Holland on points, knocked out Charlie Radtke in round two at UFC 315 and stopped Burns in the third round in Winnipeg, earning a Performance of the Night bonus.
At 6ft 1in with a 73-inch reach, Malott is the taller man, though Buckley has the longer arms. The fight probably turns on whether Malott can work behind his jab and threaten takedowns enough to keep Buckley guessing. If Buckley gets him on the fence and plants his feet, the power gap is real. Over five rounds, Malott's grappling and cardio look like the better long-term assets.
Co-main: Erin Blanchfield vs Jasmine Jasudavicius
The flyweight co-main pits No. 4 Erin Blanchfield (14-2) against No. 7 Jasmine Jasudavicius (15-4), and it is a genuine title-picture fight. Both women have lost to Manon Fiorot, so the winner has a strong case to stay near the front of the queue.
Blanchfield, 27, is the best pure grappler in the division's top five. She submitted Tracy Cortez with a rear-naked choke in round two at UFC 322 in November 2025, after a five-round decision over Rose Namajunas the year before. Her only defeat in the last three years was a decision to Fiorot in March 2024.
Jasudavicius, 37, from St. Catharines, Ontario, will have the crowd. She choked out Jéssica Andrade in the first round at UFC 315, was stopped by Fiorot in round one in October 2025, then rebounded with a decision over Karine Silva in April. She is strong in the clinch and dangerous on top, which makes the grappling exchanges the place to watch.
Other fights worth your time in Edmonton
Marc-André Barriault against Kyle Daukaus at middleweight is the pick of the rest: Barriault's pressure and volume against a longer opponent who is comfortable on the mat.
- Kyle Nelson vs Cristian Perez, lightweight, on the main card.
- Mandel Nallo vs Nate Landwehr, lightweight. Landwehr rarely has a dull fight.
- Louis Jourdain vs Timmy Cuamba, bantamweight on the main card.
- Tanner Boser vs Jhonata Diniz, heavyweight, a home fight for the Albertan on the prelims.
Our predictions
Main event: Mike Malott by decision. Buckley can end this with one right hand, and nobody should rule that out. But the Usman and Brady fights showed that sustained pressure and the threat of takedowns blunt him, and Malott can mix both. Expect Malott to win the later rounds with his grappling and cardio, in front of a home crowd.
Co-main: Erin Blanchfield by decision. Jasudavicius is strong and confident at home, but Blanchfield's chain wrestling and back-taking are a level above. The Canadian's best route is clinch work and top pressure, and those are exactly the areas where Blanchfield usually wins.

The main card begins at 1am BST on Sunday 18 October, with the prelims at 11pm BST on Saturday and the early prelims at 10pm BST. What are Joaquin Buckley's and Mike Malott's records?
Joaquin Buckley is 21-8 and ranked No. 10 at welterweight, coming off decision losses to Kamaru Usman and Sean Brady. Mike Malott is 14-2-1 and ranked No. 13, on a four-fight win streak that includes a third-round TKO of Gilbert Burns in April 2026 and a unanimous decision over Kevin Holland.

No title is on the line. It is a five-round main event between two ranked welterweights, No. 10 Buckley and No. 13 Malott. A win puts the victor in the division's top ten and in line for a bigger name, while a third straight loss would push Buckley well out of the title picture.
